About this blog

Throughout highschool, my aim was to become an artist as my life long career. However, being the eldest son in an Asian family, going down the track of being artist was not a preferred pathway.  Although my parents were really open and was willing to support me whatever I chose, dad had “the talk” with me.  After the talk, instead of becoming an artist, I chose the pathway of becoming a banker.

A big 360 degree change isn’t it. However, I have never regretted my decision and always grateful that dad had the talk with me. During the last 10 years since I had the discussion with dad, I have realised that I am a person who does not like to have my work on a measuring scale. If I had gone down the path I decided in highschool, I would have hated the pressure of producing a piece of work in time. Producing a piece of artwork is my hobby, what makes me feel good when I finished something that I couldn’t have done before and I would like to keep it that way.

But, there are some downsides to it. Going from a full time art student to being a hobbyist who can only spare (if lucky) an hour every night, skills decades. Especially during the time I first started my career, there were so much to learn, I stopped for 3 years!

Originally, posting my work was only something to help my memory. As I get more responsibility growing up, I seemed to have less memory space remembered what I have done or even where I have left my work! After moving to Melbourne, I decided to start a commitment to blogging that will force me to keep in track with my hobby and not focus my life in work. For those of you who has watched Gate: Jietai Kano chi nite, YES, my actions are inspired by Itami Yoji. But also, I have realised that there are a lot of people out there who wants to get into drawing or loves drawing discouraged by different reasons. And specifically many has been informed that you cannot do good drawings without "expensive" equipment. Knowing that is not true as I have been creating my drawings using some of the most accessible materials, I hope my posted work can encourage more people to draw and create.

Please feel free to leave any message for each of my work and let me know your thoughts. These comments will be essential to help me grow.
